Autumn Revel

Grantham Hall, Merville, BC
September 29, 2007
Doors open at 3:00 p.m.

Come one, come all for an evening of merriment, games, good food, and lively company! The Shire of Cragmere invites you to join us as we celebrate that most beautiful season, Autumn. Relax and visit while you play games or, if you feel energetic, dance a medieval dance or two (no experience required!) Enter a contest if you wish, and perhaps take home a prize! Contests are judged in three skill levels, and newcomers are encouraged to enter, as well as children and folks who have been around for a while.

A Tribute To Autumn, In Any Medium

Subtlety/Sotiltey

Make a food look like what it's not! Modern examples are rice crispie squares made into castles, ginger cake looking like houses (with frosting snow and gumdrop Christmas trees), and cakes frosted to look like shields. Medieval examples include "boar's heads" made of ground meats, peacocks roasted and then their skins re-placed to be served as if alive, and sugared sweets that look remarkably like animal entrails.

Child - Ages 13 and under
Novice - has never entered an SCA Arts & Sciences contest before
