Cragmere Council Meeting Minutes
January 05/05

1. Present: Jamie, Linda, Colette, Nik, Paul, Judy, Graham, Tanya, Tavis, Rhys, Anne, Cheridy, Danielle

2. Chatelaine/Gold Key: both are moving, so storage must be elsewhere
Linda & Nik - signs; kitchen box, games
Anne - utensils
extras will be given away for donations at next event
Judy will ask Lynne if she has room for clothing

3. Halls/Places to meet: Judy check out spaces for rental; Paul is looking into Cumberland Masons; prices will be brought to next meeting.

4. Last event - Robber Baron's feast
Finance: mystery of the $50 - Colette mistakenly put additional $50 that was given to her; will be put down in books as "donation", even though Colette was not out of pocket.
Concept: Colette asks if it counts as a medieval event; concepts were introduced and some medieval education happened, so it was agreed it was acceptable.
Need larger space for play and dance; maybe 3 times the area.
Keeping people after 9 p.m. - Billets are offered; perhaps an after-party?
"Death" should pick up one-shot items. Fewer knives. Antidotes must be carefully chosen (allergies; taste). A guest list in the packet would be useful (especially to the RB).
Colette would like to get the Upper Native Sons Hall next time. Anne suggests Eureka Club on 4th.
Separate cooking and autocrat/writing responsibilities.
Go over TRPs before the event (tourney rules and procedures).

5. Next event - Warm up the Winter
Jan 29th - basic get-together, dance, games
Mostly potluck with stew and bread provided; Tavis may make bread, but no promises.
Make this a newcomers event. Hosted at Comox Lions Den. Fighting may take place in parking lot

Judy - signs
Colette - veg stew
Colette and Linda will work together to get an ad in the paper to attract newcomers. Jamie will get current copy written. Colette will make posters.
Everyone bring castoffs for give-away

6. Exchequer
storage box on sale; purchase approved
Bank balance $1166.06

7. Years' events
Last weekend in May is our official event (May 28); picnic at Kin Beach. Camping is expensive; leave camping event until later in year.
Summer event must be moved as SST booked the same weekend. Aug 27th will be camping event, if site can be found. Paul will ask about campground in Cumberland. Tanya mentioned cadet sites on Comox Lake; would require porta-potties; Tanya will inquire.

8. Reports are due to Principality.

9. Grete Boke
Tues 11th is gouache painting lessons, so we can help, at Nik's.
Colette requests funds so she can re-letter; needs fulscap paper for practice and to get sizing. Under $5; Nik will give her parchment-look paper as it is @ $.05 per sheet.
Paint to be purchased; 10 colors from Island Blueline is about $60; budget of $100 approved. Perhaps go in w Ravensley and Hartwood for a better price; Linda will contact Amber and Meg to find out.
Project may take up Wednesdays to get it done.

10. Wood for trenchers has been acquired; Home Depot donated some.

11. Paul talked to most of the fighters. Saturday noon, Cumberland Elementary, on Egremont and Ulverston; fight practice at 12 noon.
Some discussion re: Practice on Denman in Firehall; last ferry leaving 10:40 p.m.

12. Some discussion re: Banners for False Isle need to be finished.

13. Next meeting: Jan 12/05 @ McMullen's.
