Call to order at 8 p.m.

1. Minutes from last meeting accepted. Add Cheridy's name to the shire brochure.

2. A&S - Cheridy has contacted most people as of the last meeting; Colette wants a workshop on making bezels (much discussion on bezels); scrolls to come at A&S nights; Colette would like to see tablecloths with swans.

3. Newsletter is on hold and waiting for the distribution list from Zoe. Colette has applied for the Chronicler position.

4. The Armed Forces Daycamp was cancelled altogether, by Kerry Lee.

5. Discussion of Saturday fighting practice Comox Valley at Millenium Park at noon - possibly change to another day. Campbell River fighting practice - Rapier is on Thursday at 7 p.m.; current fighters there are Alistair , Thomas, Tina and Annie.

6. Exchequer's report: we have money

7. Colette presented a proposal for a Christmas Supper and Dance on Saturday December 3rd. She would like more folk dances (Stuart to lead Trenchmore); will have an inn-type dinner; Stuart is her second; needs a packet of forms (Linda agrees to find them); Colette will find a location next week, possibly Lions' Den. (Still need to find CR hall for -any- event.) Should we have Robber Baron event? Will come back to that later.

8. Colette brought an email from "Barb", asking to rent items (or us) for a birthday party. Should we? As a group we don't do this, but individuals may do this. Linda will communicate with Barb. (Paul's Althing shields, Linda's "color" gonfalons; sugg. Rent-all, etc.)

9. Autumn Revel - Annie's looking for prizes for the fall event; Autumn Headdress and Bardic with an autumn theme, both with adult and children's categories; Charles has a Tower of Pisa puzzle to donate.

10. Rhys' device is in submission; paid his money and it's been 4 weeks now.

11. Jamie would like us to bring our thoughts to next council...
- Where do we as a shire want to go? Where do we focus next year?
- We need 3 possible events for next year. One of these must be a Tier 1 ("official"), possibly the May event. At the Kin Beach Regional Park, can we get permission to camp one night for a set fee for the group? Will discuss in further detail at a bigger council in October.
- Jamie would like to see one social evening a month. Garb? Choose a Friday of the month, perhaps. Hartwood has the last Friday of the month. Third, for us? As long as there is no event that weekend.

12. Paul would like to see an open officers' meeting; discuss possible changes in the shire.
Topics: shuffling structure of shire/officers; discuss operational guidelines and procedures; rules of the shire; Jamie has copies of OG that need to be distributed; meeting will be mandatory for officers and will possibly need a full day; suggested that we push this to January; decide when and where to have meeting at October's council; Paul volunteered his place.
- Agreed that we will take up a collection to provide some gas money to have CR people come to October and January meetings, if gas money is an issue; CR people may also want to contribute their thoughts on their short-, medium-, and long-term goals. One person from CR has to be at October Council, preferably Annie. All are asked come to January meeting.

13. Annie is stepping down as shire herald at the end of the year; Nik will be taking over.

A&S nights:
Sept 14 - luminaria - LJ
Sept 21 - create scrolls - Tingles
Sept 28 - painting of scrolls - Tingles
Oct 5 - council at Tingles

Adjournment at 9:15 p.m.
