Shire of Cragmere Council Minutes
October 5, 2005

Present: Jamie, Cheridy, Shannon, Stuart, Nik, Linda, Rhys, Paul, Gunter

Came to order 7:45 p.m.

1. Seneschal, Jamie, re-confirmed all-shire meeting scheduled for Sunday October 23/05, at Paul's place at 4 p.m. Topic: direction of the shire in the future; focuses, issues, operational guidelines.

2. Dance mistress requested permission to hold a dance practice on a Wednesday, in the Comox Rec Center, Room C. Agreed on October 19th, 8-9 p.m. at a cost of $20 plus GST, to be taken from dance kitty. Look at practices in Black Creek, at Jack Boyse's place on MacAuley Road; want more interest shown from Campbell River.

3. Exchequer reports no change in the credit union account, but the SCA Financial Policy has been updated, and all prospective exchequers are encouraged to read it.

4. Officer reports are due to their superiors by October 15th (copy to seneschal).

5. Island Farspeaker pages are here for updating. New one to be released near the end of October.

6. Newsletter: late, but here, available to those with subscription
Gunter states that he has bought a subscription, and so took a copy; rather than receive back issues, would like to re-engage subscription.
Re-new efforts to retrieve Chronicler records; Linda to contact Zoe.

7. October 8th Event update: 5 p.m. set-up; 5:30 doors open; $5 plus potluck contribution.
Cheridy to pick up tablecloths, tunic and feastgear.

8. Officer Reports
MoS: Rapier is now at Lewis Park on Monday nights at 7 p.m., but check with Paul, as it floats a bit.
Herald: Nik and Annie will be sharing the position when her term comes to an end.
A&S: looking for input on what group projects we can do.
: Nik says the Silver Swan scrolls are about ready for us to paint.
: Paul would like to see cloaks for authorized fighters (red and white, maybe chevronny, heavy enough for field use; Jamie has pattern).
: Historical European Martial Arts - on a dry day, call Stuart; else, will re-start in spring.
: talk of a shire seal; Linda will look into it, possibly considering soapstone; Stuart offers info on use.

9. A&S nights...
Oct 12 - fighter cloak patterns and design, -and- sew'n'social; at McMullens'
Oct 19 - gather at Tingles, 7 p.m.; dance at Comox Rec, 8 to 9 p.m.; donation appreciated (but not required); Hit and Misse, Cuckolds all a-row, Rufty Tufty, possibly others
Oct 26 - painting of silver swan scrolls; at Nik and Linda's
Nov 2 - Council; at Tingles'
