Shire of Cragmere Council Minutes
November 2, 2005
Present: Jamie, Colette, Nik, Linda, Paul
Came to order about 7:30 p.m.
1. Much discussion on phone list; Colette handed around the first version. She and Shannon will work together on future versions; Linda to send the farspeaker list that was sent to Lenora.
2. Much discussion on boffer. Paul has a couple of names, new kids on Denman, at Buckley Bay.
3. MoS Report: Paul is considering Gunter as deputy for heavy, once he is carded, and had duties outlined to him.
: Paul reiterated that deputies -must- report to the MoS on a regular basis; reports can be in any form, but must be made.
4. More discussion on phone list: suggested that we contact all past potential members to offer them a local phone list.
5. Herald's Report: Rhys' device has gone to Laurel.
: All nagged Paul about getting his name and device registered; he has bribed Nik to submit the device, for future consideration.
6. A&S Report: Written report read out by Linda.
: Paul would like to start and -finish- each group project before beginning another.
7: Event discussion: At feasts/revels, set up fewer tables than expected to need, at the beginning of the night; when the ends are crowded, set up another table.
: Eat first, then do court.
: At December event, do a real court, and toasts.
: During feasts, esp after major toasts, offer toasts erratically (note to self: get examples).
8. Jamie invites Campbell River people to come to council; we will take up a collection to donate towards gas costs.
9. Discussion related to A&S? Events?
: look at auction of donated items - separate categories for artisans, closet-cleaning?
: look at Medieval Faire - outside vendors, SCA vendors, demos
: combo event? - possibly indoors; auction plus sales booths ($35 + donation?) plus feast
: all pledge to continue this discussion at a later date.
10: Exchequer Report: How much do we need in the shire financial policy? Linda to ask.
11. White Court: Colette will ask about getting 10 tickets for Cragmere sales.
12. Discussion on Group ID: consider something like gingerbread house for Boys and Girls Club fund-raiser; too much for us this year; consider other community projects throughout the year; the gingerbread thing would need to be done in Sept.
13. Chronicler/Zoe: will hand over books at Investiture; we'll contact her to remind her.
14. Discussion on Exemplar: Still looking for input; discuss at A&S meetings during other projects.
15. Discussion on EVENT: Cragmere Races theme in July or August; Paul suggests Boy Scout Camp for regatta of model ships; categories of on-site, period, documentation, best looker, most succesful (surviving several heats).
