Shire of Cragmere Council Minutes
December 7, 2005
Present: Shannon, Stuart, Cheridy, Rhys, Jamie, Nik, Linda
Came to order about 7:15 p.m.
1. Re-cap on Supper and Dance event of Dec. 3rd: $100 profit; pretty much ran out of food, due to unexpected numbers (35 adults, 5 children), but some dessert remained afterward; many kudos on menu (soup failed and was not served; discussion on why; food was otherwise fantastic; must have people pre-register where food is supplied), multiple contests (having multiple scrolls was impractical, due to "make up your own contest"; did not give any out; will likely see this repeated here and elsewhere), dancing (2 sets of, or 3, thanks to Stu playing dance music for the instrumental bardic contest), and merchants (SCA shopping!).
2. Island Farspeakers: Linda expects to pick up Island Farspeakers at White Court; everyone has until the Wednesday beforehand to place their order and give her money ($2 for large format, $1 for mini).
3. Herald: Paul's device is about to go in; by next council, Morel expects to step down and Nik step up.
4. A&S: discussion - yearly contests; persona-related contests; possibly incorporate Exemplar (event? part of "requirement"?); poss. pre-number contestants (some confusion at event); maintain an honor roll for contests (outside of Chronicles of Cragmere), including contest-date-winner, Cragmerians winning contests outside of shire, etc.
5. Exchequer Report: Society Exchequer is updating info on small branches; more to come later.
6. Discussion on Events: Aug 25th weekend for Cragmere Races may've been bumped between first registration of event date, and Brenethwyn's request for a Tir Righ form instead of An Tir; Jamie to talk to Brenethwyn. Camp Gilwell is booked for the weekend.
: Lynne has not yet put forward her Robin Hood event; currently slated for sometime in the next 4 months. Jamie to contact Lynne re: her event.
: Linda asked that there be a "Warm up the Winter" event in January, if Lynne's event does not happen in either January or February; Nik suggested Games Night, with someone adding Desserts.
7. Discussion on community presence: Nik suggested parades (Empire Days, Canada Day); Shannon suggested knock-down, pop-up floats.
8. Chronicler: Linda will reimburse outstanding subscribers, and deposit remainder of cash into a dedicated fund.
A&S nights:
Dec 7 - Council; McMullens'
Dec 14 - Discuss and finalize event dates; continue with Silver Swan Scrolls and trenchers; discussion on Exemplar.
