Shire of Cragmere Council Minutes

November 4, 2007
at Tavis and Christa's

Present: Colette, Nik, Alister, Tavis, Shannon, Stuart, Christa, Linda
Meeting came to order at approx 7:45 p.m.

Note to readers not at the meeting: Council met at the tail-end of an Ithra weekend; that's our excuse and we're sticking to it.

Old Business:

  1. Discussion on removal of shire 'stuff' from Asa's basement:
Stuart volunteered some outdoor space, but no transport; Tavis and Christa can donate some short-term storage; officers will take as much as they can, but all are short on space.
Result - organize for moving 'stuff' on Nov 18 (Asa permitting) to Tavis and Christa's for temporary storage and reconsideration.
  2. Discussion on Constitution: Definitions and purpose required. Tabled until the next council. Financial Policy is approved but must not be included; Swan Guard Policy must not be included. Linda to seek further guidelines.
  3. Note on Insula Magna May 2008 event: Maria of Hartwood is event steward.

Officers' Reports:

  1. MoS
    • Fighting practice now on alternate weekends in CR.
    • Plans are afoot to get CV going, too.
    • Colette suggests that A&S might meet at the same time and place as the CR practice.
  2. A & S
    • Alistair is getting up to speed; now has report schedule; introduction sent to Principality.
    • Ithra in Crickstow was well-attended by Cragmere; kudos.
    • Looking at setting up a schedule of workshops; Colette suggests that a larger quarterly demo/class/or? would be sufficient when considering people's schedules; Shannon asks for an April workshop on Sarah/Bug's corded corsets.
    • All people should send Alister notes on their projects for the last month or so! Please!
  3. Exchequer
    • $1309 in the regular account.
    • Disappointed that Rachanda wasn't at the meeting.
    • Quarterly report to Principality now good.
    • Cheques are needed for the event: float, rental.
  4. Herald
    • Been doodling ideas for heraldic display. Some discussion on badges, like how many are permitted to be registered, etc. Red Swan, Black Swan, War Banner of Swan Displayed. Dori?
  5. Seneschale
    • Impressed with officers! All appears to be going well; socials, A&S and fighting are coming together.
    • Consider canceling December council? That's a busy weekend. Discuss at next weekend's event.
  6. Event Stewards
    1. Social: Christa to find out if tables can be left out from previous group; Nik to do signs; April probably will manage potluck; ads are requested for the mid-week papers; all are encouraged to bring their games and banners; dance; Edward Little donated 2 bottles of Wobbly Goose for prizes; Colette has a prize for the dessert contest; there will be a mystery contest.
    2. Armada: We have a tentative booking for August 8-10, 2008; will confirm with Gerald Koopmans at the end of January. Forms are ready.
    3. Demo at Heritage Faire reminder, February 23, 2008 - theme of Great Britain; lots of space available; need dancers to learn demo dances and to learn to lead audience members.
New Business:
  1. Next Social evening - January Ithra weekend!
  2. Ithra Discussion: Date set to January 26/27 weekend; basic classes only (4 hours each); site is Tavis and Christa's (considered Phyllis and Bill's, Tsolum Bldg); look at home classes and Tsolum Bldg for revel; Linda to be registrar and discover what we need to do/prepare for.
  3. Next Council - on Dec 2/07 at Lynne and Alistair's
  4. Birthday cake! Many thanks to Christa and son Logan for providing it!
  5. Meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
